Trinity's John Halas '05 Lands Scouting Job With New York Knicks

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College men's basketball alum John Halas '05 was recently featured in an article on EliteSportsNY.com as the New York Knicks were considering adding and eventually did hire Halas to their scouting department. Andy Hurd '16, former point guard on Trinity's NCAA Elite Eight men's basketball team in 2015 and an assistant coach with the Bantams last season, has been hired as an assistant coach at Pratt Community College in Kansas.  The Beaver staff is headed up by former Trinity assistant coach Sean Flynn.  

Halas was a standout shooting guard for the Bantams, currently ranked second all-time in three-point field goals and third all-time in steals in the Trinity record book.  He had been the scouting coordinator with the Orlando Magic in for the last five years.  Hurd averaged 5.5 points and 4.0 assists while helping the Bantams to the NCAA Tournament in both his years after transferring to Trinity from Central Connecticut State University.  Coached by James Cosgrove, Trinity was 15-10 and qualified for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament in Hurd's season on the staff last year.  Hurd earned her his bachelor's degree from Trinity in economics in 2016.
