Springfield, Mass. - The Trinity College men's indoor track and field team competed at the Massasoit Classic on Saturday at Springfield College in the team's first action of the spring semester. The Bantams were led by sophomore Samuel Oyebefun (Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis) who placed second in the 60-yard dash in a neck-and-neck race as he finished just .003 seconds off the first place time. Junior captain Kyle Larsson (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) took third in the 800-meter run in another close race, seperated by less than a full second.
Sophomore Joseph Ruggiero (Manchester, Conn.) finished fifth in the mile run while classmate Zachary Joachim (Sudbury, Mass.) earned a third place finish in the 3000-meter run. Fellow sophomore Luke Mayer (Morristown, N.J.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.64 while Corey Jean-Jacques (Haverhill, Mass.) rounded out the stellar Trinity performances with a third place finish in the shot put.
The Bantams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Wesleyan for the Wesleyan Invitational in Middletown.
