  • Trinity Wrestling Welcomes Back James Sclafani to Program as Assistant Coach

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling team has announced the hiring of James Scalfani '17 as the team's new assistant coach for the upcoming 2018-19 season, replacing former assistant coach Greg Doukas. The Bantams, under the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Marques Gales, finished the 2017-18 season with a 5-10 record and saw a handful of impressive individual performances at tournaments throughout the winter.

    Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling sophomore captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) was named as a 2017-18 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-American, and joined juniors John Davis III (Princeton Junction, N.J.), Joe Penna (Reading, Mass.), Mason Sangillo (Florham Park, N.J.), and sophomores Fumihiro Tamada (Okayama, Japan) and Mason Allen (Morristown, Tenn.) on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Winter All-Academic Team.

Women's indoor track and field sophomore Katie Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.) and junior wrestler Mason Sangillo (Florham Park, N.J.) have been named as the Bantams of the Week.

    Providence, R.I. - Junior Jack Reilly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore Stephen Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.) each had a pin to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 33-15 win over the Rhode Island College Anchormen in a wrestling tri-match at the RIC Recreation Center this evening. 
  • Trinity Wrestling Wins Over SUNY Sullivan in Tri-Meet at Southern Maine

    Gorham, Maine - Junior Mason Sangillo (Florham Park, N.J.) won at 285 in the final match against SUNY Sullivan to clinch a 33-24 victory for the Trinity College wrestling team in a tri-match at Southern Maine on Saturday. Junior captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) and classmate Joe Reilly (Andover, Mass.) both went 3-0 on the day for the Bantams as well while sophomore Lukas Kaminski (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished with a pair of wins. Trinity returns to the mat on Friday, February 9th for a tri-match at Rhode Island College along with Bridgewater State.

    Hartford, Conn. - Junior captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) posted a pair of victories, including a win by fall and an 11-2 major decision, as the Trinity College Bantams downed the College of Mount St. Vincent Dolphins, 40-3, and lost to the New York University Violets, 37-16, in a home tri-match this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium.

    Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College junior wrestling captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) has been named as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week after his continued dominance over the weekend at the 149-pound division. Sorensen went 4-0 and won the 149-pound bracket at the Will Abele Invitational at Ursinus College.

    Collegeville, Pa. – Junior captain Grant Sorensen (Moore, Okla.) won the 149-pound championship to lead the Trinity College wrestling squad to a sixth -place finish at the Will Abele Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College, on Saturday afternoon at the Lewis Bakes Center. The Bantams finished 11.5 points ahead of seventh-place Southern Virginia University and just 6.5 points behind fifth-place Western New England.

Trinity finished seventh out of 16 competing programs with 73.5 points, just 2.5 behind sixth-place Apprentice and seven ahead of eight-place University of Maine.
