Trinity Wrestling Lends Guidance and Advice to Local Middle School Students

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling squad, led by Head Coach Marques Gales (5th Season), recently welcomed a group of 100 eighth grade students from the Capitol Region Education Council's (CREC) Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Middle School in Windsor to campus for a tour of the college as well as talks with members of the team. The students, who attend the same middle school that Coach Gales used to teach at as an associate instructor, ate lunch in the Washington Room of Mather Hall, listened to student-athletes share their experiences with college, and took a campus tour, led by members of the wrestling team, and PRIDE leaders.

Sophomores Stephen Cerrone (Quechee, Vt.), Lukas Kaminski (Hopkinton, Mass.), and first-years Justin Pursley (Poway, Calif.) and Ted Tierney (Arlington, Va.) were among the Bantam wrestlers who helped lead the eight graders during the course of the day. The experience was rewarding for not just the middle schoolers, but for the Trinity wrestlers as well.

"It was a pleasure showing the kids around campus," said Cerrone. "I remember being so stressed out about college, it feels good to be able to help others in their college search and answer any questions that we can."
