Trinity Women's Swimming And Diving Finish Fifth At Hamilton Invitational

Clinton, N.Y. - First-year Samantha McStocker (Weston, Conn.) swept the backstroke events to lead the Trinity College Bantams to fifth place in the Hamilton College Women's Swimming and Diving Invitational this weekend at Bristol Pool.  Trinity totaled 438.5 points to settle in the exact middle of the team standings, over 100 points higher than sixth-place Mount Holyoke and 50.5 shy of fourth-place Oneonta State.  The host Continentals won the team title with 736 points. Trinity closes the 2017 fall semester with a home tri-meet against Wellesley College and Wheaton College.

McStocker won the 100-yard backstroke by 1.39 seconds with a time of 1:01.46 on Friday and the 200-yard backstroke today by over three seconds with a time of 2:12.63.  Trinity sophomore Audrey Ettinger (New Canaa, Conn.) added a third-place time of 4:56.97, just .29 seconds out of second place, and first-year Lia Urban-Spillane (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the diving with a sixth-place score of 201.80 off the three-meter board and a seventh-place score of 193.15 off the one-meter board.  Trinity recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes in relays, as Ettinger, McStocker, and sophomores Julia Albino (Southbury, Conn.) and Nina Tzianabos (Reading, Mass.) posted a fourth-plaxe time in the 200-yard medley relay and Tzianabos, McStocker, and rookies Grace Gorman (Sudbury, Mass.) and Emily Louie (Edison, N.J.) were fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:45.72.
