Hartford, Conn.- The Trinity College Bantams won, 6-3, against the visiting Nichols College Bison in women's tennis action this afternoon at the Assaiante Tennis Center. Trinity was playing its first and only dual match of the fall, while the Bison fall to 11-2.
Trinity trailed, 2-1, after doubles play, as senior tri-captain Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) earned an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 match. For the Bison, Ashley Dallaire (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine) paired up to defeat the Bantams, 8-5 in No. 2 doubles. Nichols grabbed another point at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) and senior Alanna Judd (Westborough, Mass.) beating Bantam freshmen Morgan Wilkins (Halesite, N.Y.) and Lily Everett (Atlanta, Ga.), 8-4.
Babunski also won at No. 1 singles in straight sets, while fellow senior tri-captain Ania Aliev (Needham, Mass.) pulled out a three-setter with a 6-2 victory in the clinching set after dropping the second, 5-7. Sophomore Jillian Winer (Bolton, Mass.) won her singles match in straight sets, and Everett earned her first career dual-match victory, 6-4, 6-4 for the Bantams. Brogan collected the fifth Trinity singles point with a win by default in the No. 2 position in the lineup.
