Lewiston, Maine - Sophomore Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) won a thrilling match at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 7-6, 14-12, but the visiting Trinity College Bantams could not gain another point in an 8-1 setback against the Bates College Bobcats in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity fell behind, 3-0, after doubles play, as the Bobcats came out on top in two close matches with 8-6 wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Trinity senior tri-captains Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) and Ania Aliev (Needham, Mass.) both lost in three sets in singles matches, as the match was much closer than indicated by the final score. Trinity, now 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference, returns home for a NESCAC match against No. 4-ranked Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. Bates is 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the league.
