Women's Cross Country Edges Field to Win Trinity Invitational

Manchester, Conn. - Junior Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) bested the field to finish first while four other Bantams finished top-ten to lead the way for the Trinity College women's cross country at the season opening Trinity Invitational on Saturday at Wickham Park in Manchester. The Bantams finished with 29 points, edging out second place Connecticut College who tallied 34 team points.

Senior Lauren Barrett (Peabody, Mass.) turned in a third-place performance with a finals time of 20:15.4. Senior Caroline Sullivan (South Hadley, Mass.) finished seventh at 20:29.5, neck-and-neck with teammate Nina Bourgeois (Rochester, Mass.) who finished eighth at 20:29.9. Rookie Izzy Montes de Oca (Carpinteria, Calif.) had an impressive showing in her collegiate debut, turning in a tenth-place effort in 20:48.3.

Trinity returns to action next weekend at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
