Westfield, Mass. - Junior Samantha Feenstra (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished fourth out of over 200 runners to lead the Trinity College women's cross country team to a second place finish at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State on Saturday. The Bantams finished with 118 points, behind first place Smith, and 13 points ahead of third-place Mt. Holyoke. Trinity returns to action at next weekend's Connecticut College Invitational in New London.
Feenstra finished in 18:44.05 to lead the way for Trinity. Senior Anna Barnes (Storrs, Conn.) and rookie Izzy Montes de Oca (Carpinteria, Calif.) both added top-20 finishes for the Bantams as well. Barnes finished in 19:12.58, good for 12th place, while Montes de Oca turned in a 16th place effort with a time of 19:20.39. Sophomore Julia Burdulis (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished 27th to round out Trinity's top-30 finishers.
"We're proud of the effort put in by our men and women today," said Head Coach George Suitor. "We rested a couple top athletes and managed to step up as a team with solid performances."
