Hartford, Conn. – Six Trinity players won by 3-0 scores in a dominant 9-0 victory over the Williams College Ephs in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Squash Championships this weekend at Trinity's George A. Kellner Squash Center. Thirteen-time defending national champion Trinity, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improves to 16-1 on the season with the win, while Williams falls to 14-9 on the year, snapping a six-game winning streak.
Freshmen Moustafa Hamada (Alexandria, Va.) and Elroy Leong (Selangor, Malausia) allowed just 12 points apiece in their matches, playing in the No. 8 and No. 9 spots respectively. Junior Johan Detter (Malmoe, Sweden) allowed just 14 points playing in the No. 4 position for the Bantams.
Trinity rolled through their competition this weekend, topping Wesleyan, 9-0, and Bates, 9-0, before today's match with Williams. Of the 27 individual matches this weekend, Trinity won 22 of them by 3-0 scores.
The Bantams have won all six conference crowns since the NESCAC began holding a championship tournament in 2006-07. Williams topped Connecticut College, 9-0, and Middlebury. 7-2, in the opening rounds yesterday to earn a ticket to their sixth consecutive NESCAC Finals appearance.
