Cambridge, Mass. – With the score tied at 4-4, freshman
Zeyed Elshorafay (Alexandria, Egypt) came up with
a clinching win in the No. 7 slot to give the Trinity College
Bantams men's squash team a 5-4 victory over the Harvard
University Crimson at the Murr Center this evening.
Trinity improves to 15-0 overall this year, while Harvard
drops to 14-2 with the loss. Trinity has beat Harvard in
their last 23 meetings.
The Bantams were first to strike, jumping out to a 3-0
lead. Senior co-captain Johan Detter (Malmoe,
Sweden) delivered a clutch performance in the No. 6
position, beating his opponent 12-10 in the final game, to win the
set, 3-2. The win was the third of the night for Trinity, and
it turned out to be a crucial one for the Bantams.
Rookie Juan Vargas (Bogota, Colombia), playing
in the No. 2 spot, and sophomore Moustafa Hamada
(Alexandria, Va.), in the No. 8 spot, each took their
opponent five games in the tightly contested battle.
