Trinity Men's Squash Records Impressive Win At No. 2-Ranked Yale

New Haven, Conn. - Junior co-captain Affeeq Ismail (Kuching, Malaysia) won the clinching match, 3-2, to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 8-1 victory over the Yale University Bulldogs in men's squash action this evening at Brady Courts.  The defending College Squash Association (CSA) National Champion and top-ranked Bantams improve to 10-0 with their 19th consecutive win, while the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs fall to 5-2 with their second setback in a row.  

Trinity led, 3-0, after the first wave, as senior co-captain Juan Vargas (Bogota, Colombia) and first-year Nku Patrick (San Fernando, Trinidad) posted 3-0 wins at the No. 3 and No. 9 positions in the lineup, respectively.  Trinity sophomore James Evans (Maidstone, England) came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the next two games, 11-5, and, 11-6, before rallying from 9-6 down in the fifth game for an 11-9 triumph and a 3-2 win at the No. 6 spot on the ladder.

First-year Michael Craig (Belfast, Northern Ireland) won for Trinity, 3-1, at the No. 2 position, and Yale sophomore Arjun Kochhar (Mumbai, India) won, 3-2, in the No. 8 spot to make the score, 4-1, with Ismail embroiled in a marathon fourth game against Bulldog sophomore Thomas Kingshott (Greenwich, Conn.) in the No. 5 match.  Kingshott tied Ismail, 2-2, with a 16-14 win in game four, but Ismail answered with an 11-5 win in the deciding fifth game to earn Trinity its fifth point of the evening.  Trinity swept the third wave which included a 3-2 win for sophomore Omar Allaudin (Lahore, Pakistan) in the No. 7 spot, a sweep by first-year Tom De Mulder (Gent, Belgium) at No. 4, and a 3-1 victory at the top of the ladder by sophomore Rick Penders (Maastricht, Netherlands).
