Canton, N.Y. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams jumped out to a 3-0 lead and won at each of the bottom four sports in the lineup to down the St. Lawrence University Saints, 5-4, in men's squash action this afternoon at Robie Center. The Bantams traveled down to Hamilton College on their way home and blanked the Continentals, 9-0, this evening. Top-ranked and defending College Squash Association (CSA) National Champion Trinity improves to 11-0 with its 19th and 20th wins in a row, while the No. 4-ranked Saints drop to 6-3 with their second consecutive setback, and Hamilton is now 5-8.
Trinity senior tri-captain James Evans (Maidstone, England) and rookies Ziad Sakr (Tanta, Egypt) and Aryaman Adik (Mumbai, India) each posted a 3-0 victory to give the Bantams a 3-0 advantage, but back-to-back wins from Moustafa Bayoumy and Lenard Puski pulled the Saints within one at 3-2. Bayoumy won an exciting five-game match against Trinity senior tri-captain Rick Penders (Maastricht, Netherlands) in the No. 4 spot on the ladder, prevailing, 11-9, in the fifth game. Puski followed with a 3-0 triumph but Bantam senior tri-captain Omar Allaudin (Lahore, Pakistan) completed a 3-1 win in the No. 7 position to push the Bantam lead to 4-2. St. Lawrence senior Karim Ibrahim downed Bantam sophomore Thoboki Mohohlo (Johannesburg, South Africa), 3-1, in the No. 2 spot to make it, 4-3, but the visitors clinched the match with a win at No. 4, as junior Michael Craig (Belfast, Northern Ireland) swept Belal Nawar, 3-0. Saint senior Ahmed Bayoumy closed out the match with a come-from-behind, 3-2 win at the top of the lineup over Trinity sophomore Kush Kumar (Dhampur, India). Kumar won two straight to take a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth games, but Bayoumy took the last two, 11-8, and, 11-7. At Hamilton, eight Bantams won by 3-0 scores including an 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 win at the No. 8 spot by junior Tor Christoffersen (Malmoe, Sweden).
