Trinity Men's Squash Rolls Princeton to Advance to Potter Trophy Semifinals

Hartford, Conn. -  Junior Thoboki Mohohlo (Johannesburg, South Africa), Michael Craig (Belfast, Northern Ireland), and senior tri-captain Rick Penders (Maastricht, Netherlands) won 3-0 at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 spots in the lineup to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-1 victory over Princeton University in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship (Potter Trophy) Quarterfinals this afternoon at the George A. Kellner Squash Center at Trinity College.  Top-seeded Trinity improves to 18-0 on the year and moves on to face No. 4-seeded St. Lawrence tomorrow at 2:30 pm in the semifinals.

Junior Tom De Mulder (Ghent, Belgium) clinched the quarterfinal match for Trinity at No. 5, defeating his opponent 3-0. Senior tri-captain Omar Allaudin (Lahore, Pakistan) had a dominant performance at No. 7, allowing just 14 points to his Princeton counterpart.  First-years Ziad Sakr (Tanta, Egypt), Andrew Lee (Kuala Lumpar, India) and Aryaman Adik (Mumbai, India) won their matches at the No. 6, No. 7, and No. 9 spots in the lineup in their first performance in the National Championship spotlight.  Sakr showed remarkable composure as he overcame a six-point deficit to defeat his opponent 12-10 in the second set of the match.  The rookie boasts a 14-0 record this season and was excited to make an impact in his first collegiate Potter Trophy appearance. "I was nervous, especially when I went down early in the second set," said Sakr. "I looked over and had my teammates supporting me and reminded myself to take it one point at a time. I wanted to win the match for my team, and being at home makes it extra special".

Trinity had an overall impressive team performance as seven of Trinity's victories came via sweeps while Princeton's lone victory came at No.1 by first-year Youssef Ibrahim (Cairo, Egypt).
