MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – First-year Madeline Wambach set a new program record (57.82) in the 100-yard Fly on Saturday as the Trinity College women's swimming team triumphed over Hamilton College 167-131 and fell short to Colby College 165-131 this Saturday afternoon.
In addition to Wambach's record-setting fly performance, the first-year Bantam took the No. 1 spot in all four of her events. She recoded a 200-yard IM of 2:13.23 and was a part of two winning relay teams. The Bantam's 800-Yard Free Relay team of Wambach, Isabelle Tagliaferro, Rachel Papalski and Morgan Lenoce recorded a first-place time of 8:03.66 while the 200-yard Medley Relay team finished first with a time of 1:49.41, consisting of Wambach, Lenoce, Tagilaferro and Marissa Lopez-Ona.
Lopez-ona also placed first in both the 50 and 100-yard best, while also placing second in the 200-yard IM event. Racking up another first place victory was first-year Isabelle Tagliaferro who won the 50 and 100-yard free events while Lenoce won her 100-yard backstroke event as well.
Trinity also had some key finishes that helped them pull out the win. First-year, Julianna Rieker placed third in the 1000-yard free event. Also placing third was Junior, Papalski, in 200 yard free. Senior Serena Ly also had a steady meet placing third in both 50 and 100-yard breast.
Senior Grace Chouinard placed 3rd in the One-meter dive. She was followed by classmate, Olivia Ramos who also placed third in her three-meter dive. The Bantams will return to the water on December 4th to take on Wesleyan University at 2 p.m.
