Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College women's squash co-captain Min Jie Teh (Klang, Malaysia) was named as Trinity College's top senior female athlete (Trinity Club of Hartford Award) for 2021 and as one of three finalists for the 2021 College Squash Association (CSA) Betty Richey Award, the most prestigious award given out annually to a current women's squash student-athlete. She was profiled on NESCAC.com in June following her outstanding career with the Bantams.
Trinity gave out its annual senior athletic awards in May. Endowed by the Trinity Club of Hartford, this award is selected by faculty, staff and captains of varsity teams. The winner must be a senior woman of good scholastic standing and with distinction in athletics. She must have shown diligence and conscientiousness in drill, training, discipline, and dependability in practice, courtesy, self-control, uprightness and honor. Top candidates for the Richey Award are those players who best exemplify the ideals of squash in their love of and devotion to the game, their strong sense of fairness, and their excellence in play and leadership. Nominees are also praised for their cooperation with opponents, coaches, and competition officials and their overall contributions to intercollegiate squash. The winner of the 2021 Betty Richey Award, Zoe Foo Yuk Han of George Washington University, was announced during the CSA's live College Squash Awards Show on March 25.
Teh, a three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree and a CSA National Scholar Athlete as a junior, emerged as Trinity's No. 1 player and posted a 12-5 record against the nation's toughest competition in 2019-20. She was honored as the 2020 NESCAC Player of the Year and repeated on the All-NESCAC First Team as a junior. The NESCAC Rookie of the Year and an All-NESCAC Second Team honoree in 2017-18, Teh made the CSA All-American Second Team three years ago and the CSA All-American First Team in 2018-19 when she reached the CSA National Singles Championship Quarterfinals. Trinity has not played any varsity matches this season due to COVID-19, and Teh has spent both semesters of her senior campaign studying remotely. A graduate of Bukit Jalil Sports School, Teh graduated from Trinity in May with a degree in computer science. She is the daughter of daughter of Sui Leok Loh and Keng Chai Teh.
