Box Score Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College men's tennis team lost this afternoon in a tough match against the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division rival Colby College Mules by a score of 7-2 at the Paul D. Assaiante Tennis Center.  Trinity falls to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC East with its second setback in a row and will visit the Tufts University Jumbos next in a division match on Sunday, May 2.  Colby is now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC East. 

Juniors Henry Bilicic (Del Mar, Calif.) and Ross DeRose (Buffalo, N.Y.) took the first match of the day at second doubles for an early 1-0 Bantam lead. The Mules then won at third doubles 8-5, making the battle at first doubles the tiebreaker for the first half of the match. Senior-captain Chris Bilicic (Del Mar, Calif.) and junior Dylan Powell (Warwick, Bermuda) traded hard-fought points with Colby's first doubles pair until a tiebreaker was necessary to settle the score at 7-7. The Mules tandem of Jan Wegner and Joey Barrett just edged Bilicic and Powell out in the equally grueling tiebreaker, 7-5. 

The first and second slots in singles also performed well in close matches that were narrowly taken by Colby. At first singles, senior-captain Granville Kaynor (New Orleans, L.A.) won the first set of the match 6-4 with a clutch hold in the final game. Wegner clawed back to take the second set, 6-4, forcing a third-set tiebreaker played in lieu of a deciding third set. Wegner won the tiebreaker, 10-7. DeRose also won the first set of his match at second singles. He held and broke service at 4-3 to take the set, 6-3.  Barrett came from behind like Wegner, grinding out the second set by a score of 6-2 and the third set tiebreaker, 10-6. With powerful serving and a rocket of a forehand, Henry Bilicic won the sole singles match of the day for the Bantams at the fourth spot, 6-2, 6-3.
