Five Bantams Collect All-NESCAC and All-Region Women's Track And Field Recognition

Hartford, Conn. - Trinity College senior captain Emma Buckley (Hanover, Mass.), sophomore Julianna Kennedy (Andover, Mass.), and first-years Gabriela Grattan (Milton, Mass.), Cate Kneebone (Winchester, Mass.), and Kennedy Mullen (Wilder, Vt.) were all named to both the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) 2021 All-Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team and the USTFCCCA All-Region Team. Buckley earned All-NESCAC and USTFCCCA honors in the 200-meter dash and joined Kennedy, Kneebone, and Mullen on the All-NESCAC/USTFCCCA All-Region squad in the 4x400-meter relay.  Grattan graced the all-conference and all-region squad in the high jump.  The Bantams, coached by John Michael Mason (3rd Season), have enjoyed a productive spring season of small invitationals and finished 22nd in the New England Open Championship Meet over the weekend. Selected Trinity athletes could qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships later this month in North Carolina.
 
Buckley has won the 200-meter dash at four different meets, the 4x400-meter relay at three meets, and the 400-meter dash at the Tufts Quad this spring, and added a second-place finish in the 200 meters and a fifth-place performance in the 4x400-meter relay at the New England Open Championships over the weekend.  Her season-best times of 25.18 in the 200 meters and 3:56.58 in the 4x400-meter relay are both the second-fastest in the NESCAC this season.  Buckley has also posted Trinity's top time of 2021 in the 100-meter dash (12.52) and the 400-meter dash (59.61).  Buckley collected United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors last winter in the 200-meter dash, as she placed second in the event at the 2020 New England Division III Indoor Championship Meet. She also scored at the New England Division III Indoor Championships as a member of both the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays that placed second and fifth, respectively.  Buckley has scored at championships meets 10 times and shares Trinity's all-time relay records in the 4x100 meters, the 4x200 meters and the indoor and outdoor 4x400 meters. A graduate of Hanover High, Buckley is majoring in political science.  She is the daughter of Jennifer and Timothy Buckley.

Kennedy has won the 4x400-meter relay at three different meets this spring and added a fifth-place performance in the event with Trinity's fastest time and the NESCAC's second-fastest time of the year (3:56.58) at the New England Open Championships over the weekend.  Kennedy scored at the 2020 New England Division III Indoor Championships as a member of the 4x400-meter relay that placed fifth and she also plays soccer for the Bantams.  A graduate of Andover High School, Kennedy is majoring in neuroscience at Trinity.  She is daughter of Stephen and Deanna Kennedy.

Grattan posted Trinity's top height of 2021 in the high jump (1.65 m) this spring that was also the third-best in the NESCAC this spring.  Grattan, who also plays soccer for the Bantams, is a graduate of Thayer Academy.  She is the daughter of Nancy and Joe Grattan.

Kneebone has won the 4x400-meter relay at two different meets this spring and added a fifth-place performance in the event with Trinity's fastest time and the NESCAC's second-fastest time of the year (3:56.58) at the New England Open Championships. She won the 400 meters at the Connecticut College was finished second behind Buckley in the 400 meters at the Tufts Quad #2 (1:00.3). Kneebone is a graduate of Winchester High School and is the daughter of Kerry McCarron and Robb Kneebone.

Mullen has won the 4x400-meter relay at three different meets this spring and added a fifth-place performance in the event with Trinity's fastest time and the NESCAC's second-fastest time of the year (3:56.58) at the New England Open Championships.  She also posted Trinity's a distance of 11.11 meters in the triple jump this season and Trinity's second fastest open 400 time (59.82).  Mullen is a graduate of Hartford High School and is the daughter of Pam and James Mullen.
