LEWISTON, MAINE - Sophomore
Pierce Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.) won the "C" singles draw in the Wallach Men's Tennis Invitational at Bates College this weekend. Rutledge outdueled his first round opponent, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5), defeated his semifinal opponent on a tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 10-2, and won the finals in another tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7. The event concludes the fall season for the Bantams.
In the "A" singles draw, Trinity junior
Henry Bilicic won a hard-fought opening match on a tiebreaker and twice in straight sets to reach the finals. Trinity rookie
Brandon Felcher (Westport, Conn.) did the same in the "B: singles draw, including a 6-3, 7-5 victory over sophomore teammate
Jack Ginter (Phoenixville, Pa.) in the semifinals, and lost a close finals match, 2-6, 6-0, 10-8. In doubles, junior
Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion (Lima, Peru) and Rutledge went 1-1 in the "A" flight and junior
Kartik Erodula (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore
Marcus Carlsson (Alingsas, Sweden) went 1-1 in the "B" flight for the Bantams.
