Trinity Men's Rowing Takes Ninth In Collegiate Eights Race At Head Of The Charles

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College varsity eight finished ninth in a field of 41 boats in the Collegiate Eights race at the Head of the Charles Regatta this afternoon on the Charles River. The Bantam crew posted a time of 14:50.282 to place 2.48 seconds better than 10th place Worcester Polytechnic Institute and 2.506 seconds behind eighth-place University of Virginia. Drexel University won the team title at 14:20.496. The Bantams, coached by Kevin MacDermott (14th Season), concluded their fall season with today's race.  The Trinity lineup included coxswain Caoilinn Gormley '25, Chad Obrey '23, Nicholas Roll '22, Matthew Mitchell '25, Jack Carr '25, Quin Woods '23, Wyatt Mills '26, Ian Lehman '26, and Ben Bejoian '25.  Bantam junior Tyler Gillette added a 14th-place finish in the men's lightweight singles race with a time of 20:03.076.

"It was a strong performance from the crew in Boston and was another positive step in the development of the team," said Trinity Head Coach Kevin MacDermott. "Top-10 was a goal, so this result was solid, and with six D-1 programs ahead of us, the crew feels good about where they finished in this event.  With four sophomores and two first-years aboard, the effort was intense and the execution was high.  Very proud of the crew, the squad, and the progress made this season.  The Charles was our final race, but, we have one more team event to finish the fall season – a 35 mile round-trip row to Middletown and back next Saturday.  It has been a great eight weeks with one more to go!"
