Perry Claims First for Trinity Wresting at RIT Invitational

In the 149 bout, Chris Perry takes home the crown for the Bantams.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Chris Perry (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) won the first place for the Trinity College wrestling team in the 149 bout by 3-1 decision over Alfred State's Anthony Miraglia at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational on Saturday. The Bantams remain on the road as they travel to Williams on Friday for a 7 p.m. meet with the Ephs. Trinity placed fourth overall among the 16 competing teams. 

Perry wasn't the only Bantam on the podium as Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.) secured third in the 197 weight class along with first-year Adam Schaeublin (Salem, Mass.) who earned bronze in the 133 bout. Klass defeated Jesse Kanatzar from John Carroll in an 8-2 decision, while Schaeublin won by major decision against the host school's Lee Rubin, 14-5.

Perry breezed through the first round with 17-2 technical fall against the Tigers' Joey Brillo, followed by back-to-back TF's both for a 16-0 win over Oswego State's David Hammerle and St. John Fisher's Torin Bishop. The sophomore secured the final two rounds with a 5-0 and 4-2 decision with Williams College Caleb Seyfried and John Carroll's Kale Buckiso.
