NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Trinity College Bantams opened the 2022 spring season with an 8-1 victory against the Smith College Pioneers.  The visiting Bantams dominated the indoor match, sweeping the doubles, 3-0, and taking five singles wins in straight sets.  Trinity junior Isabella Hartman (New York, N.Y.) allowed just one point at the top of the singles ladder (6-1, 6-0) and teamed with sophomore Angelina Shyltsyna (Odessa, Ukraine) for an 8-6 victory at first doubles.  Shyltsyna also won in singles, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 3 post.  Senior co-captain Ashley Walker (New Canaan, Conn.), sophomore Josephine Kimball (New York, N.Y.), and rookie Ella Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) also won in singles and doubles, while first-year Kennedy White (Golden, Colo.) earned a tiebreaker doubles triumph with Baker in her collegiate debut.
