Wambach Completes Third Event In Three Days At NCAA Women's Swim Meet

HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College first-year Madeline Wambach (Boston, Mass.) closed out the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship Meet in Indianapolis with a 38th-place (preliminary) time of 2:10.98 in the 200-yard butterfly.  Wambach was invited to the NCAA Championships in the 100-yard butterfly and was also allowed to compete in the 200-yard IM on Wednesday and the 200-yard fly today.  This year's meet is hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corp at the IUPUI Natatorium.  The four-day meet consists of preliminary swims starting at 10 a.m. each day and finals each night at 6 p.m.  

Wambach recorded a time of 56.85 in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday.  Her time was just .8 seconds shy of the top 24, while Emory's Taylor Leone posted the fastest preliminary time of 54.14.  Wambach had opened the NCAA Championships with a lifetime-best, 52nd-place time of 2:10.23 in the 200-yard individual medley.  Wambach was the second Trinity women's swimmer to be invited to the NCAA Meet in the last five years. Sam McStocker '21 became the first female since 1983 to be invited in 2018.
