WATERVILLE, Maine - The Colby College Mules came out on top in a tightly-contested match against the visiting Trinity College Bantams, taking three singles matches on tiebreakers to win, 8-1, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the NESCAC, while No. 24-ranked Colby improves to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the league. The Bantams visit conference rival Hamilton on Saturday at 10 a.m. in their next match.

Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion (Lima, Peru) and first-year
Pierce Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.) outlasted their Mule opponents, 8-7, with a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker. At first singles, Trinity senior captain
Ross DeRose (Buffalo, N.Y.) took the second set against Colby's top player, Jan Wenger, but lost in the clincher, 10-6. Bantam sophomore
Henry Bilicic (Del Mar, Calif.) won the first set versus Joey Barrett, 6-3, but dropped the second, 6-1, and lost, 10-7, in the tiebreaker at second singles. Senior captain
Dylan Powell (Warwick, Bermuda) also took his opponent to a tiebreaker with a 6-4 win in the opening set, but the Mules won the other three singles matches in straight sets.
