Dylan Powell (Warwick, Bermuda) and sophomore
Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion (Lima, Peru) both won in singles and doubles to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 victory over the Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's tennis action this afternoon at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Trinity improves to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC, while Hamilton drops to 6-7 overall and 1-6 in the league with its third consecutive setback.
Trinity led, 2-1, after doubles play thanks to close wins by Powell and fellow senior co-captain
Ross DeRose (Buffalo, N.Y.) at first doubles (8-6) and by Sanchez-Carrion and first-year
Pierce Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.) at third doubles (8-5). Sanchez-Carrion won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, at third singles and Powell edged Hamilton's Gianni Esposito, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Bantam sophomore Henry Biicic won twice on tiebreakers, 4 and 5, at second singles to account for the fifth Trinity point.
