Trinity College Welcomes Back Hannah Hagy As Head Swimming And Diving Coach

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Director of Athletics Drew Galbraith has announced the hiring of Hannah Hagy as head men's and women's swimming and diving coach.  Hagy, an assistant for the Bantams from 2018 to 2021, returns to Hartford after spending the last 11 months as an assistant swimming and diving coach at Case Western Reserve University.  She replaces Carlos Vega, who retired from coaching in March.

"We are so excited to welcome Hannah back to the Bantam family in the role of Head Coach of Swimming & Diving," said Galbraith. "She has accumulated a variety of coaching experiences professionally following a stellar career in the pool. Our students, coaches and staff sensed her passion for continuing to build the program here. We look forward to the success and support our students will have under Hannah's leadership."

Hagy was instrumental in the success of the Case Western Reserve swimming and diving program, which sent two swimmers and a diver to the NCAA Division III Championship Meet in 2022.  She was heavily involved in organizing and executing practices and training and played a major role in recruiting efforts.  She was an equally vital member of the Trinity swimming and diving staff during her stint as an assistant coach and assistant aquatics director.  Hagy was also a member of the Athletics Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committees at both Trinity and Case Western.

Hagy was a highly-decorated college swimmer. She was a team captain, two-time NCAA Qualifier, and a Division III All-American at the University of Mary Washington where she graduated with honors in 2016 with a degree in mathematics.  She earned her master's degree from Trinity in public policy in 2020.  Hagy has additional experience as a swim coach at Machine Aquatics, for the Hunt Valley swim team, and locally at the Masters level in Hartford.  Prior to Trinity, she was a math teacher in her native Virginia.

"I am so excited to be returning to Trinity College!," said Hagy.  "After three years of working as an assistant for the program, I am grateful to the Trinity athletic community for trusting in me and granting me this opportunity to return as the head coach. The values present at Trinity College and in the NESCAC are ones that I closely align with and I am excited to help guide our student-athletes to success!"

Trinity swimming and diving finished 0-6 in men's dual meets and 3-3 in women's dual meets in 2021-22.  The Bantam men placed ninth and the women were 10th in the 2022 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)  Championships in February.
