WILLIAMSTOWN Mass. – Sophomore
Ethan Wilkie (Ellington, Conn.) is the Division III New England Shot Put Champion after recording a mark of 15.42 meters on Saturday at the DIII New England Championship Meet hosted by Williams College. The Bantams placed seventh overall out of 30 teams scoring 47 total points over the two-day competition.
Aside from Wilkie, who also finished ninth in the discus throw on Saturday, other field event top-performers consisted of sophomore
Justin O'Neil-Riley (Dorchester, Mass.) who placed second in the long jump with a leap of 7.06 meters and was just one centimeter off from tying Sam Pegram's Trinity College school record set in 2009. Additionally, senior captain
Kinnard Hughes (Chicago, Ill.) placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.22 meters.
On the track, first-year
Nolan McKenna (Boston, Mass.) ran a blistering sub-49 second 400 Meter Dash for a personal best 48.92 second time. He also placed 10
th in the 200 Meter Dash with a 22.48 run. Junior
Kai Bailin (Shutesbury, Mass.) also set a personal record as he finished third in the 400 Meter Hurdles clocking a 54.19 time. Senior
Tim Lautenbach (Weston, Conn.) took command of the race in the 1500 Meter Run, attempting to set a Nationally qualifying time and placed fourth to garner All-New England honors. Additionally, junior
Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) clocked a 1:53.07 in the 800 Meter Run which was good for a fourth place finish on the day and the men's 4x100 Relay team finished fifth with a 42.80 run.
