HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College women's squash senior tri-captains
Amina Taher (Alexandria, Egypt) and
Nadiia Usenko (Kiev, Ukraine) and junior
Nanna Carleke (Karlskrona, Sweden) each received a 2022 College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar Athlete Award, and the trio also graced the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Winter All-Academic Team. Most recently, Usenko was additionally honored with the Susan E. Martin Award as Trinity's senior female scholar-athlete of the year.

Wendy Bartlett (38th season), the Bantams finished the 2021-22 season with a 15-2 overall record, won their 15th NESCAC Championship in a row, and finished third in the CSA National Team (Howe Cup) Tournament. Trinity defeated Virginia 8-1 in the first round of the tournament, but fell to Drexel, 4-5, in the semifinals. However, they finished the season strong with a 6-3 win over Yale in the Third-Place match.
The CSA Scholar-Athlete Award (varsity team players) and Academic Recognition Award (club team players) are granted to juniors or seniors who have played on the team throughout their college career, participated in the majority of the team's matches in the top 10 of the lineup during the season, and achieved a high academic standing at their institution. Trinity placed 73 student-athletes on the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team. To be eligible, student-athletes must have reached sophomore academic standing, and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or equivalent on a 4.0 scale. Transfers must have completed one year of study at the institution.
Taher missed the 2021-22 campaign with an injury but posted a 24-9 career record with the Bantams. A graduate of German High School, she is majoring in economics and German at Trinity. She is the daughter of Aya Elkaragry and Karim Taher. Usenko went 13-1 in the middle of the Trinity lineup in 2021-22 and went 2-1 in the CSA National Championship Tournament (Howe Cup). She closed her fine career with a 48-9 career mark and earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors as a sophomore in 2019-20. A graduate of Collegium Olimp, Usenko is majoring in language and cultural studies at Trinity. She is the daughter of Olesia Tretiakova and Oleksii Usenko.
Both Taher and Usenko are three-time NESCAC All-Academic honorees. Carleke went 6-5 for the Bantams this winter and repeats on the NESCAC All-Academic Team. A graduate of Af Chapmangymnasiet Karlskrona, Carleke is majoring in economics at Trinity. She is the daughter of Helen Hansonn Carleke and Par Carleke.
