HARTFORD, Conn.— Back-to-back pins by
Chris Perry (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) and
Nico Patch (Oswego, Ill.) turned the tides for the Trinity College wrestling team as the Bantams defeated the visiting New England College Pilgrims, 37-12, on Wednesday. Trinity has a week of rest before traveling to the Worcester Polytechnic Institute on January 14 to take on the Engineers, Johnson & Wales (R.I) and Roger Williams at 11 a.m.
After a trailing by six due to a forfeit at 125, first-year
Matthew Carrozza (Brookfield, Conn.) defeated Wyatt Gentile at 133 by major decision capped off by a takedown, reversal and an exposure in the second period.
At 141, rookie
Adam Schaeublin (Salem, Mass.) bested John Lafferty with four takedowns and an exposure to give Trinity the narrow lead, 7-6. A quick pin at 1:20 in the first period for Perry sealed the win over Cole Pratterson at 149, while teammate Patch won by fall at 4:38 over Adam Presa to put the Navy & Gold up by 13.Â
Two-straight wins by decision for the Pilgrims shortened the gap to 19, but a pin at 6:34 by
Timothy Glynn (West Windsor, N.J.) over Francis Boahen at 285 sealed the deal for the Bantams as they won 37-12.
