Men's Swimming & Diving Narrowly Eclipsed at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Five first-place finishes highlighted the Trinity College men's swimming and diving close loss at Wesleyan University on Wednesday, 180-110. Trinity moved to  3-4, while the home team moved to 4-6. The Bantams return to the pool at home on January 21 with a 1 p.m. matchup against Wheaton College (Mass.) in the Trinity Natatorium.

Colin Leonard (Concord, Mass.) placed first in the 100-yard free with a time of 48.69 and came in third in the 50-yard free at 22.39, just .04 seconds shy of the the top two finishers. Tyler Trocchi (Tucker, Ga.) placed second in the 200-yard free and the 100-yard breast with times of 1:48.57 and 1:02.66. Dillon McDermott (East Sandwich, Mass.) secured a second-place finish in the 50-yard fly with a time of 22.62, just 1.01 seconds shy of the top spot, and garnered a third-place win in the 50-yard breast with a time of 58. 56, just 0.20 behind and 0.05 from second. Liam Colleran (Norwalk, Conn.) nabbed first-place in the 50-yard back after clocking in at 24.27 and secured the top slot in the 100-yard back with a time of 53.06.

Leonard, McDermott, Colleran and Trocchi clocked in at 1:36.50 in the 200-yard medley relay to claim the top spot, while Tadija Ciric (Nis, Serbia) joined Leonard, Trocchi and McDermott in the 200-yard free relay for first-place with a time of 1:27.68.
