BOSTON, Mass. —
Kai Bailin (Shutesbury, Mass.) and
Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) highlighted competition for the Trinity College men's track & field team at Middlebury College's New England Small College Invitational on Sunday, claiming the crown in the 200 meter dash and 800. meter run, respectively. The Panthers served as the host of the event at the TRACK at New Balance, with all 11 NESCAC institutions in attendance. The Bantams return to the track on February 4 for the Cupid Challenge hosted by Tufts University.
Bailin stopped the clock at 21.98 in the 200 meter dash for his best run this season to snatch first place and was .06 milliseconds shy of the senior's personal best. In the 60 meter preliminary race, Bailin clocked in at 7.13 for fourth and improved his final time of 7.03 for second place. Martin finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.87 was 01:67 seconds faster than second-place finisher Jinwoo Kang from WIlliams College.
Ethan Wilkie (Ellington, Conn.) heaved the shot put for 14.70m to garner third place and threw a personal best 15.99m in the weight throw to finish fourth. In his first year in the Navy & Gold,
Kevin Rogers (Danvers, Mass.) crossed the finish line for ninth place in the 5,000m with a time of 15:32.93, only 1:04.49 behind first place. The Bantam 4x400 relay quartet of
Nolan McKenna (Boston, Mass.), Zuri Johnson (Powder Springs, Ga.), Bailin and
Darren Warren (West Haven, Conn.) secured the third spot with a time of 3:25.45 and were 01.20 seconds behind second and 03.25 shy of first.
