Women's Swimming & Diving Successful In Season Opener at Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Trinity College Women's Swimming & Diving team kicked off the 2023-24 season with one race victory and seven second-place finishes during a tri-meet against Colby College and Hamilton College at Bristol Pool Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Niamh Kastner led the Bantams in the pool, posting a victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.16, along with a pair of second-place finishes in the 50-yard butterfly (26.75) and the 400-yard IM (4:50.04). Senior Marissa Lopez-Ona logged two second-place finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.92) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.10), while first-year Charlotte Murphree tied Lopez-Ona at second in the 100-yard breaststroke along with a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke at 32.42.

Junior Isabelle Tagliaferro posted a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.39) and third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (55.20). Senior Morgan Lenoce placed third in the 50-yard butterfly (27.99) and fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (28.68).

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of sophomore Rachel Kim, Murphree, Kastner and Tagliaferro finished second with a time of 1:51.32, while the team of Lenoce, Lopez-Ona, first-year Hannah Flis and first-year Rachel Lundy placed fourth at 1:52.54. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the squad of Kim, Lundy, junior Addison Dunham and Tagliaferro logged a third-place finish with a time of 1:42.90.

On the diving platform, first-year Esther Bradley claimed third in the 1-meter dive (230.55) and the 3-meter dive (209.45). First-year Kayla Tatarian grabbed fifth in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 196.75 and 151.45, respectively.

The Bantams return to the pool for the Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan University next Friday and Saturday. Events begin Friday at 6:30 p.m.
