SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — 
John Fiore III (Fairfield, N.J.) finished in sixth place in the 184 for the Trinity College wrestling team at the New England Wrestling Association Futures Tournament hosted by Western New England University on Sunday. Trinity placed 12th overall with 22 points, with Johnson & Wales (R.I.), Castleton University and Springfield College claiming the top three. The Bantams compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on February 25-26, hosted by the University of Maine as the first match starts at 11 a.m.
The first-year went 3-2 on the day with wins against the host team, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) After losing in the first match in a tough battle with the eventual fourth-place finisher Scott DeFex from JWU, Fiore recovered to win three-straight. He defeated Colin Rielly from WNEU with a technical fall, bested WPI's Christian Andres in a 14-11 decision and JWU's Louis Paradiso with a 5-2 decision before falling to Aidan DeLuca from WNEU in the fifth place bout, in a close 7-5 decision.
At 174, 
Nicholas Crotty (Framingham, Mass.) also recorded a trio of wins against Wesleyan's Joe Colon, Southern Maine's Henri Kuntz and Norwich's John Shaffer. The junior boasted a 16-0 technical fall win and a pair of pins.
