Trinity Wrestling Set For NCAA Division III Regional Championships

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College wrestling team, led by Head Coach Sebastian Amato (23rd season), heads to the University of Southern Maine this weekend for the 2023 NCAA Division III Regional Championships on Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26. Nineteen teams from New England and New York City, including the Bantams, will compete in the regional championship, and each wrestler will vie for a spot in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament on March 11 and 12 in Roanoke, Virginia. Individually, student-athletes can qualify for the national championship by placing in the top three of their respective weight division. Wrestlers that finish top eight in their weight class earn All-Region honors.

Four Trinity wrestlers are ranked among the top contenders in their respective weight classes. Bantam senior tri-captain Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.) is ranked No. 3 among 197 pounders in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA). Sophomore tri-captain Chris Perry (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) is ranked No. 4 in NEWA among 149 pounders, while senior tri-captain 165-pounder Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, V.T.) is ranked No. 5 in the NEWA Rankings. Junior 174-pounder Adam Frost (Bennington, V.T.) is ranked No. 8 in the NEWA. As a team, Trinity is ranked No. 10 in the NEWA entering the weekend. Klass is 17-3 with four pins this winter, while Lyskawa is 15-4 with six pins. Perry is 22-6 with five pins and Frost is 27-14 with nine pins.  

Other Trinity wrestlers looking to make some noise in the tournament include sophomore Aiden Hebert (Bethany, Conn.) in the 141-pounder division, first-year 133-pounder Adam Schaeublin (Salem, Mass.),  senior Nico Patch (Oswego, Ill.) at 157 pounds and junior Timothy Glynn (West Windsor, N.J.) at 285 pounds. Hebert is 15-4 with nine pins, Schaueblin is 22-6 with four pins, Patch is 16-11 with four pins, and Glynn is 13-10 with eight pins.
