PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Trinity College junior
Mohamed Sharaf (Sheikh Zayed City, Egypt) swept Harvard's George Crowne, 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 to win the College Squash Association (CSA) National Singles Championship "A" Division Pool Trophy title this afternoon at Arlen Specter U.S Squash Center. Sharaf, seeded No. 4 in the field of the top-ranked players in the nation, downed No. 11-seeded Yash Fadte, of Rochester, 3-1 in his opening match and swept No. 12-seeded Karim Elbarbary, of Princeton, in the quarterfinals by a score of 3-0 on Friday. Yesterday, Sharaf dusted top-seeded Aly Hussein, of Virginia, in the semifinals to advance to today's finals. Sharaf is the first Bantam to win the Pool Trophy title since Baset Chaudhry in 2009 and the fourth Trinity player to earn the title overall. Chaudhry had also won the crown in 2008, Bernardo Samper took the Pool Trophy in 2002, and Marcus Cowie won it in both 1997 and 1998.

Joachim Chuah Han Wen (Shah Alam, Malaysia) captured the Malloy "B" Division title today with a dramatic victory, 3-2, over Harvards's Tate Harms. Chuah came back from an 11-7 deficit in the first game to take the next two, 11-4, and, 13-11. Harms won the fourth game, 11-8, but Chuah rallied to take the clinching fifth game, 11-4. On Friday, Chuah had reached the semifinals by winning a pair of 3-0 decisions as the top seed against the No. 16 and No. 9 seeds from Fordham and Brown, respectively. In the semifinals yesterday, Chuah recovered from a 2-0 deficit to take three games in a row to beat Drexel's Yuri Pollack Pelbart, 3-2.

Ahmed Ismail (Cairo, Egypt) rebounded to earn a 3-2 victory over MIT's Philip Hyun Su Price on Friday and a 3-0 win over Colby's Youssif Mostafa on Saturday to advance to the consolation finals of the Molloy East bracket. In today's finals, Ismail downed Denison's Juan Felipe Hernandez, 11-9, 11-5, 13-11, to give the Bantams three champions on the seaosn's final day of competition.
