Men's Tennis Bested by Amherst, 8-1

HARTFORD, Conn. — In a midweek matchup against New England Small Athletic Conference foe Amherst College, Henry Bilicic (Del Mar, Calif) and rookie partner Rico Buoro (San Paulo, Brazil) notched a win at No. 1 doubles in the Trinity College men's tennis 8-1 loss at Assaiante Tennis Center on Tuesday. The Bantams fell to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the league, while the Mammoths moved to 8-4 and 4-3. Trinity sets out for Tufts University on April 15 for a 10 a.m. match.

After a slow start at No. 1 doubles, Bilicic and Buoro stood strong in an 8-3 victory to secure the final doubles match point. Bilicic trailed by 4-1 in the opening set before rallying back for a close 7-5 win at No. 1 singles against Edred Opie. The junior narrowly dropped the second set, 7-5, before a tight 10-7 loss in the third set. Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion (Lima, Peru) battled hard in the first set at No. 2 singles with a close 7-5 loss.
