LEWISTON, Maine — With the match knotted at 1-1, Ella Baker (Gladstone, N.J.), Angelina Shyltsyna (Odessa, Ukraine) and Madison Bolig (Charleston, S.C.) all rallied back in the third set for three-straight wins in the Trinity College women's tennis team 6-3 victory on the road at Bates College on Sunday. The Bantams improved to 7-7 on the season and 2-6 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Bobcats fell to 5-11 and 1-9. Trinity plays at Springfield College at 3 p.m. on April 20.

The Navy & Gold up 2-1 after doubles as Allie Francis (Westport, Conn.) and Shyltsyna took the first match point at No. 2, followed by Baker and Elise Brennan (Valatie, N.Y.) at No. 3 in back-to-back 8-4 wins. Trinity kept the momentum swinging as Francis won in two sets for a 3-1 Bantam lead at No. 5 singles.

Bates leveled the match 3-3 after wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles before Baker battled back from a set down to win and put Bantams up, 4-3. The sophomore dropped the opening set in a close 7-5 loss, followed by a 6-2 win in the second and the match point in a 6-3 third set victory at No. 4 singles. Shyltsyna came back in the third set after winning the first set 6-3 and dropping the second set, 7-5, at No. 3. The junior clinched the match victory in the final set, 6-4, to put Trinity up, 5-3. Bolig put the nail in the coffin after a first set deficit, 6-4, and completed the match in back-to-back wins, 6-2, 6-3.
