Three Trinity Men's Rowing Crews Race In Finals at Knecht Cup Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Trinity College Bantams had three boats competed in finals races today in the Knecht Cup Regatta on Cooper River.  Trinity varsity eight finished sixth in its grand final, the second-varsity eight placed fifth in its grand final, and a third Bantam boat won a four-boat race against Catholic, Franklin and Marshall and Stockton.  Trinity's varsity eight posted a time of 6:08.84, 5.39 seconds shy of fifth-place George Washington and also behind MIT, Drexel, La Salle, and Mercyhurst.  Trinity's second-varsity eight finished in 6:09.57 today, besting Michigan by 2.45 seconds and finishing behind boats from Drexel, La Salle and MIT.  Trinity's winning crew in the Division II/III event won by 3.17 seconds over second-place Stockton.

Both Bantam men's varsity crews earned themselves spots in today's grand finals with fantastic performances yesterday.  Trinity's varsity eight started off Saturday with a second-place time of 6:00.31, just 0.83 behind first-place Drexel, in its preliminary heat. The finish earned the varsity eight a spot in the afternoon semifinal race.  Trinity's second-varsity eight also finished second to Drexel in its heat, posting a time of 6:16.91.  In the final Trinity race yesterday, Trinity's varsity eight posted another runner-up finish, this time behind MIT in the semifinals with a time of 5:58.01, good enough to qualify for the grand final today.
