Wilkie Captures Trio of Gold Medals at Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. — Ethan Wilkie (Ellington, Conn.) nabbed first-place in all three events for the Trinity College men's track & field team at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday. The Bantams tabbed second with 135 points, while Springfield College took first with 166 points and Coast Guard rounded out third with 82 points across 19 scoring events. Trinity competes next at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, April 29 hosted by Connecticut College.

Wilkie earned the gold in the shot put with a 16.02m heave and the top-spot with a pair of personal records in the discus and hammer with 46.66m and 53.44m throws, respectively. Zuri Johnson (Powder Springs, Ga.) finished first for the Bantams in the 200m and 400m with times of 22.23 and 49.63 and a personal-best in the 400m, with Nolan McKenna (Boston, Mass.) right behind in both with a times of 22.61 and 49.69, respectively. In the 400m hurdles, Kai Bailin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) crossed the line at 54.16 for first place and a personal best, with Jack Darling (Milton, Mass.) three runners behind at fourth with a time of 59.51. Travis Martin (New Haven, Conn.) finished first in the 800m with a time of 1:53.96.

In the 1500m, Toby L'Esperance (Florence, Mass.) earned the top-spot with a time of 3:59.04, with Sam Strymish (Newton, Mass.) coming in at third at 4:01.03 for a personal record and Larson Sippel (Northhampton, Mass.) at sixth with a personal best time of 4:04.21. Andrew Moran (Mendham, N.J.) earned fourth in the javelin and discus with 35.80m and 49.32m heaves, respectively, and a personal best throw in the discus. Lucien Ducret (Old Greenwich, Conn.) clocked in at fifth in the 400m at 52.56. In the 110m hurdles, Bailin had a qualifying time of 15.29 for fourth and improved his time by .04 in the finals for third with a personal best time of 15.25. Connor Quiet (Falmouth, Maine) earned a qualifying time of 11.09 in the 100m prelims for fifth place, and earned fourth in the finals with the same time for a personal record.

In an exhibition mixed 4x400m relay, the Navy & Gold foursome in the 'A' group Julianna Kennedy, Evan Farnan (East Greenbush, N.Y.), Sophia Jones and James Maciel Andrews (New Have, Conn.) placed second with a time of 3:50.44. In the 'B' group of the 4x400m relay, Cate Kneebone, Johnson, Ali Gall and Kevin Rogers (Danvers, Mass.) clocked in fourth with a time of 3:56.05.
