Trinity Men's Rowing Captures Inaugural Dylan K. Remley Cup

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Trinity College varsity eight won a four-boat race featuring the Colby College Mules, the host Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers, and the Ithaca College Bombers to earn the inaugural Dylan K. Remley Cup on Lake Quinsigamund this morning.  Trinity's second-varsity eight won its race against Ithaca and WPI, while the Bantam third-varsity eight was beaten by the Engineers.  Trinity's varsity eight bested second-place Colby, ranked No. 9 nationally, by 4.1 seconds with a time of 6:07.2.  WPI was sixth nationally entering today's racing and Ithaca was ranked No. 8. Trinity races against the University of Connecticut and contests Wesleyan for the Graf Cup on Saturday, April 29 on Coventry Lake for its final dual competition of the spring.

A member of the Trinity College Class of 1991, Dylan Remley passed away in 2021 following a battle with cancer.  Mike Irwin '91 helped lead the ceremony and the new Cup was dedicated in front of a large crowd of friends, family and many student-athletes.  The new Cup will be awarded annually to the winner of the Varsity race between Trinity, WPI, Ithaca, and Colby.  A new 4-man racing shell named in Dylan's honor was also dedicated following races.

"We are honored to celebrate and remember Dylan through winning the first edition of this race and with the dedication of the new shell bearing Dylan's name," said Trinity Head Coach Kevin MacDermott.  "The racing was hard-fought and intense.  All of our crews continue to learn about racing and are exploring their potential to cover the distance.  Today was a good day and we remain focused on building towards our long-term goal of securing qualification for the national championship at the IRA in June."
