HARTFORD, Conn. — Eight personal-bests among the top-eight finishers, including a new school record by
Kamila Zygadlo (Wroclaw, Poland) in the hammer throw, for the Trinity College women's team capped off its fourth-place overall with 74 points at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday at Jessee/Miller Field. Springfield College finished at the top of the leader board with 192.5 points across the 19 scoring events, followed by Coast Guard and Wesleyan University with 140.5 and 111.5 points, respectively. Trinity competes next at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, April 29 hosted by Connecticut College.
Zygadlo snapped her own Trinity record in the hammer with a 54.03m heave to take first place and finished third in the discus with a personal record toss of 36.76m. Both Bantams in the top eight of the 1500m run notched personal records as rookie
Ali Gall (Norwalk, Conn.) crossed the line fourth with a time of 4:52.54, while
Anya Van't Hof (Portland, Ore.) garnered eighth with a time 4:56.55. In the 100m finals,
Sophia Jones (San Anselmo, Calif.) had a personal best time of 12.73 for fourth with
Cate Kneebone (Winchester, Mass.) one step behind for her career-best time of 12.74 for the fifth spot. The duo qualified for the 100m in the prelims as Kneebone clocked in third with time of 12.83 and Jones earned fifth at 13.07.
Ava Alioto posted a qualifying time in the 100m prelims for eighth with a time of 13.26.
Kneebone recorded a second personal best in the 200m after coming in at fifth with a time of 26.12, while
Julianna Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) earned a career-best time of 1:07.44 to claim third in the 400m hurdles. Jones took bronze in the 200m with a time of 25.29, while
Kennedy Mullen (Wilder, Vt.) grabbed the third spot in the 400m with a time of 57.44. In the high jump,
Gabby Grattan (Milton, Mass.) nabbed second place with a 1.62m leap, while
Izzy Maggioni (Wellsley, Mass.) secured seventh place in the 5000m with a time of 19:55.48.
Savannah Cece (Ramsey, N.J.) qualified for the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.98 and took fourth in the finals with a time of 15.99. The sophomore finished eighth in the triple jump with a 10.30m leap.
In the 4x400m relay, Alioto, Gall,
Elizabeth Harris (Slinglerlands, N.Y.) and
Abbie Wager (Middleboro, Mass.) earned the fourth spit with a time of 4:34.51. In an exhibition mixed 4x400m relay, the Navy & Gold foursome in the 'A' group Kennedy, Evan Farnan, Jones and James Maciel Andrews placed second with a time of 3:50.44. In the 'B' group of the 4x400m relay, Kneebone, Zuri Johnson, Gall and Kevin Rogers clocked in fourth with a time of 3:56.05.
