HARTFORD, Conn. — After a trio of wins in doubles, the Trinity College women's team continued it's hot streak to sweep the the singles matches in the 9-0 victory at home against New England Small College Athletic Conference foe Connecticut College on Saturday. The Bantams moved to 6-5 on the season and 1-4 in the league, while the Camels dropped to 7-6 and 0-6. Trinity remains at home on Tuesday for more conference play against Amherst College at 4 p.m. at Assaiante Tennis Center.
Trinity dominated in doubles to quickly put the team up, 3-0, going into the singles matches.
Ella Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) and
Allie Francis (Westport, Conn.) won in straight sets at No. 4 and 5, respectively. At No. 2,
Josephine Kimball (New York, N.Y.) rallied back after dropping the first set, 6-4, for a 6-3 and 6-0 win over Sana Bhat.
Elise Brennan (Valatie, N.Y.) took the first set at No. 6, 6-1, but narrowly fell in the second before rallying back in the third set 10-4. In similar fashion,
Isabella Hartman (New York, N.Y.) and
Angelina Shyltsyna (Odessa, Ukraine) dropped the second set to force a third for the match point at No. 1 and 3, respectively. Hartman defeated Caitlin Cass 6-4 in the opening set but fell 6-1 in the second followed by a 10-8 rally, while Shyltsyna went 6-3, 4-6 and 10-7 for thr solo match point.
