MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Trinity College women's golf team competed in singles and doubles action at the ITA Regional Championships at Wesleyan University Friday and Saturday. The Bantams will be back on the court for the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts from October 6-8.
In singles action, senior
Josephine Kimball (New York, N.Y.) defeated Springfield College's Gabby Heaney-Secord (6-2, 6-0), but then fell to Rachel Cranley of Tufts (6-3, 7-5) in the second round. Junior
Ella Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) took down Babson's Mariana Campos in the opening round, but then fell to Charlotte McCann of Middlebury in the round of 32. Sophomore
Allie Francis (Westport, Conn.) lost to Ella Chase of Brandeis in the first round, and senior
Angelina Shyltsyna (Odessa, Ukraine) fell to MIT's Katya Shepherd Johnson, 6-3 & 6-1.
In doubles play, the team of Francis and
Naisha Rathi (Westbury, N.Y.) collected an 8-4 victory over the Nichols College duo of Antonia Carrero and Charis Vogler. Francis and Rathi fell to sixth-seeded Kimberly Liao and Jay Liu of MIT in the second round. The pairing of Kimball and Shyltsyna battled Bowdoin's Caroline Stuhlfaut and Hannah Buckout in an 8-5 loss.
