#4 Men's Squash Serve Harvard First Loss, 6-3

HARTFORD, Conn. Mohamed Sharaf solidified the Bantams 6-3 victory over the visiting Harvard University, serving the Crimson their first loss of the season Sunday in the George A. Kellner Courts. The Bantams rise to 5-0 on the season, while Harvard drops to 6-1 overall.

Aly El Tokhy rallied in the fourth set to solidify a 3-1 win over Harvards' Omar Azzam (11-1, 11-6, 10-12, 11-3).  Senior Abdelrahman Nassar drew a crowd as he closed out his match 3-1 with a back-to-back rally with scores of 11-1, 7-11, 11-7, 11-6. The third match would be won by the Crimsons' Ishant Shah after a 2-2 match, Daniel Simon would fall in the fifth set (11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-13, 4-11).

In the second round of rallies sophomore Joachim Chuah Han Wen and junior Marawan ElBorolossy collected 3-0 wins over their Harvard opponents growing the Bantams lead 4-1 on the day. Junior Mateo Restrepo began his match with an 11-8 win over Harvards' Neel Joshi, but lost his footing in the final three rallies falling 3-1 (11-8, 9-11, 4-11, 8-11).

In the final matches sophomore Benedek Takacs was bested by the Crimsons' Tate Harms in four sets falling 3-1 (11-8, 3-11, 7-11, 7-11). After a five set rally Mohamed Sharaf lifted himself to a 3-2 victory with back-to-back set wins of 11-2 and 11-7 (7-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-2, 11-7). Final match was between Bantams Khamal Cumberbatch and Crimsons' Jacob Lin, both athletes traded set for set with a tied score 2-2. Cumberbatch finalized the match with a back-to-back victory winning 3-2 (5-11, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6).

With a win from both Trinity's Men's and Women's Squash teams marks the first time since the 2008 season that both had defeated Harvard.

The Bantams will be back in action on January 27th as they battle against Cornell University at 1PM.
