Bantams Shine at Head of the Riverfront: A Strong Season Opener for Trinity College Men's Rowing

| By:

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College Men's Rowing kicked off their season with a home opener on the Connecticut River, hosting their annual Head of the Riverfront on Sunday, October 6th.

In the Men's Open 8+, Trinity saw three boats finish in the top ten, led by J. Moores' crew with a time of 15:17.06. They were followed closely by H. Darnall's shell (15:21.42) and J. Carr's boat (15:24.22).

Coach Kevin MacDermott shared his thoughts on the Bantams' performance: "Class Day competition was incredible today. In the Open 8, we fielded crews from the Classes of 2025, 2026, 2027, and, for their first collegiate competition, the Class of 2028. The first-year crew, who have been training with Coach Nate Clark over the past month, had a great run down the course today. Our sophomore, junior, and senior crews were separated by only seven seconds, reflecting the competitive spirit we've seen in practice. The camaraderie, intra-squad competition, and enthusiasm were extraordinary, and I'm incredibly proud of everyone's efforts today."

Coach MacDermott also highlighted the significance of the Class of 2025: "Our seniors are exceptional, and this was their last Class Day competition. I am overwhelmed by the growth and development of this group over the past few years and the leadership they've shown in the program's growth. The Class of 2025 has been the driving force behind our successes. Their intensity, professionalism, camaraderie, and spirit truly define our team, and I am forever grateful for all they do."

"In other events, Trinity Men's crews took home victories in the Open 4+, Open 2x, Open 4x, and the College Novice 8.  It was a gorgeous day on the river and a wonderful start to the 2024-25 campaign.  Special thanks to all of our team parents and alumni who turned out to make the Head of the Riverfront weekend special and memorable!"
