HARTFORD, Conn. – The 4th-ranked Trinity College Men's Squash team overpowered visiting 24th-ranked Bates College, securing a 9-0 victory in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest at the George A. Kellner Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Bantams improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Bobcats drop to 2-3 overall.
The Bantams honored graduate student Henry Culhane prior to the match. Culhane will be graduating early, making this his final collegiate competition.
Trinity extended its excellent form, clinching the NESCAC triumph with a flawless sweep down the lineup. At the #1 position, first-year Low Wa-Sern claimed a decisive 3-0 win (11-1, 11-2, 12-10) over Alec Spiro. Junior Benedek Takacs triumphed 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-8) against Dennis Welte in the #2 match, while Senior Mateo Restrepo earned a 3-0 victory (11-7, 11-7, 11-6) over Labeeb Ali at #3.
In the #4 spot, junior Daniel Simon defeated Angad Sethi 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-5), and junior Huzaifa Ibrahim dispatched Ryan Kim 3-0 (11-4, 11-2, 11-4) at #5.
Senior Marawan ElBorolossy claimed a 3-0 victory (11-4, 11-2, 11-2) over Max Good in the #6 match, while senior Danial Izham coasted to a 3-0 win (11-2, 11-7, 11-7) over Maksymilian Celm at #7. Graduate student Henry Culhane defeated Augustus Silverman 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-9) at #8, securing his final career victory. Culhane finishes his career with a 9-1 overall record. The Bobcats did not field a player at the #9 position, awarding Bo Page the victory.
The Bantams will next travel to the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 11, for a 1:00 PM match against UPenn.
