HARTFORD, Conn. - Sunday afternoon the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants of the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Four Bantams from the Trinity College Indoor Track & Field Team have qualified and will be competing this weekend.
On the women's side senior Kennedy Mullen, 17th ranked sprinter in the 400M, along with senior Gabby Grattan, 5th ranked nationally in the high jump will be representing Trinity in the upcoming championships. For the men senior Toby L'Esperance, 14th ranked nationally in the 1 mile, as well as senior Ethan Wilkie, 6th ranked thrower will advance to the championships for the Bantams.
Friday, at the NEICAAA Championships on the New Balance track Mullen set a school record with a time of 56.68 snagging a qualifying spot.
Saturday, at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet Wilkie re-broke his school record tossing a 17.27 (56ft and 8in.) locking him a spot at Nationals. L'Esperance set a BIG mile personal record in a competitive field and launched himself onto the Nationals list with a top-20 time (4:09.53 converting to 4:06.39, flat-bank conversion).
Earlier in the season Grattan successfully jumped a 1.70m (5'7" setting the school record) at Middlebury for the NESCAC Invite on January 28th where it was certain that the senior would be headed to nationals in the postseason, which is now a reality.
The championships will be held March 8-9 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Norfolk State University serving as host.
