Sharaf Tabbed as NESCAC Player of the Year As Men's Squash Claims Coaching Staff of the Year Along with Six All-Conference Team honors

HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Mohamed Sharaf has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Squash Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Along with the seniors honor, Aly El Toukhy, Abdelrahman Nassar, Joachim Chuah Han Wen, Khamal Cumberbatch, and Benedek Takacs have been named to the All-Conference Team selections. Our Men's Squash coaching staff was also awarded as the Coaching Staff of the Year, Moustafa Hamada, Paul Assaiante and Mohamed ElSherbini.

Sharaf is the first player to win the award in three straight seasons since Bates' Ahmed Abdel Khalek won the honor four consecutive years (2013-2016). Sharaf is the first senior to garner the honor since John Fitzgerald (Williams) in 2019, as well as the eighth year a Bantam has won the award. Playing at the top of the ladder for the Bantams, Sharaf won his matches in the semifinals and final of the NESCAC Tournament to help Trinity win its 17th straight NESCAC title. Sharaf also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the third straight year and helped the Bantams reach the finals of the Potter Cup at the CSA Team Championship. The senior closed out his career with a total of 15-1 season, going 6-0 in conference, and tallying a career record of 52-8.

Bantams senior Aly El Touhky, senior Abdelrahman Nassar, and Sharaf were pinned with First Team All-Conference honors. Touhky finished the season with a 2-0 conference record, 9-3 season record and tallied a career record of 32-10. Nassar registered a 45-11 career record adding 15-1 season record and 6-0 in conference play. 

Trinity added three more athletes to the All-Conference listings with Joachim Chuah Han Wen, Khamal Cumberbatch, and Benedek Takacs tabbed to the Second Team selections. Chuah Han Wen went 3-0 in conference where he continued there success into the CSA Championships where he went 2-1 over the weekend. Cumberbatch finished with a 8-4 overall record going 3-0 in conference this year. Takacs tallied a 30-9 career record, going 6-0 in conference and 11-4 in the season.
