Men's Rowing Fourth at IRA Division III National Championships

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Trinity College Men's Rowing team delivered a valiant showing at the 2024 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III National Championships at Mercer Lake Saturday afternoon.
 
Trinity Varsity 4 boat propelled by junior coxswain Caolinn Gormley, first-year Christopher Palmer, sophomore Ian Lehman, junior John Dougherty and first-year Scott Sweeney won their Final race with a time of 6:46.56, besting the field by nearly two seconds.
 
The Bantams finished fourth overall in the team standings with a total of 43.5 points during the event. The Bantams 2nd Varsity 8 boat of sophomore coxswain Grace Keniry, sophomore James Yarussi, junior Benjamin Lustig, sophomore Wyatt Mills, junior Benjamin Bejoian, junior Matthew Mitchell, first-year Matteo Dembinski, junior Thomas Mullane, first-year Henry Darnall logged a second-place finish in the 2nd V8 final with a time of 5:57.414.
 
Trinity's 1st Varsity 8 boat finished fourth made up of sophomore coxswain Alenka Doyle, junior Jack Carr, junior Patrick McGeoghean, junior Felix Goldmann, graduate Quin Woods, sophomore James McGarry, sophomore Jackson Moore, sophomore Jack Lambros and first-year Owen Myers in the 1st V8 final with a time of 5:47.55.
 
"It was fantastic to see the 2nd Varsity 8 cap their year with a second-place finish," said Trinity Head Coach Kevin MacDermott. "The crew developed well over the course of the spring, remaining committed to the process of improving performance with every opportunity. The Varsity 8 and the 4 finished their seasons with remarkable races, with the 4 winning their final, and the Varsity absolutely gunning it down the course. Division III racing is incredibly competitive and everyone is eager to return faster than ever next year."
