WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. - The Trinity College Men's Golf team tied for 7th place out of 19 teams at the Williams Fall Invitational, hosted by Williams College at Taconic Golf Course. Sophomore Thomas Chalfant led the Bantams, finishing 8th overall with a total score of 149 (+7) after an impressive performance of one over par in the final round.
Gustavus Adolphus College claimed the title with a team score of +22, while Christopher Gutuvas topped the individual leaderboard with a score of 141 (-1) for the weekend.
After the first day of competition, Trinity was in 9th place with a team score of 308 (+24). The Bantams climbed to 7th place on the second day, tying with Babson at +42. Chalfant began Sunday in 28th place with a +6 score of 77, but he made a significant leap, finishing in 8th place after shooting one over par in the final round, tying with five other players.
"There were a lot of positives that came from this weekend, we just haven't gotten things to click for 36 holes yet.", Head Coach Jack Junge commented on the weekend outcome. "I have confidence in every player on this team and I know that if we keep working hard, the good results will come".
Trinity College will travel to Williamsport, PA., on September 28th for The Northeast Elite Tournament, hosted by Penn College at the Williamsport Country Club. The first round on Saturday will begin at 1 PM
